Regional Grocery News: DC and Baltimore Metros

If you’re in the DC or Baltimore metro areas, I have some exciting Safeway news to share with you.

First, the 140 Safeway stores in your area are introducing a new everyday low price program, offering price drops on thousands of items including ice cream, cereal, frozen snacks, pet food, pizzas, cheese, salad dressing, yogurt, pasta, and more.  And they’ve made it really easy to tell how much you’re saving.  Just look for yellow tags on the shelves.  These tags will have the old price listed and crossed out, alongside the new everyday low price.  If an item is on Club Card sale for the week, you’ll see that price listed on the yellow tag as well.

Safeway is also aiming to offer top-notch quality produce and Racher’s Reserve beef in stores.  To show a commitment to quality, Safeway will now give you a full refund and product replacement if you’re not completely satisfied with these products.  I know I would have appreciated this offer at other stores several times this summer alone!

If you’re in the DC and Baltimore metro areas, you also have the opportunity to win one of fourteen $1000 Safeway gift cards beginning this week.  Radio stations WWIN-FM Magic 95.9 (Baltimore) and WRQX-FM Mix 107.3 (DC) are hosting these contests.  All you have to do is pick up a “I Play Tag and Save at Safeway” car decal at your local Safeway store starting on Wednesday, September 9th (at checkout or customer service) and put the decal in your car’s rear window.  The radio stations will each visit a different local Safeway store daily from September 12th-18th to “spot” a shopper with the decal.  Two radio stations.  Seven prizes each.  Easy as that.  You can hear more details on “getting spotted” on Magic 95.9 and Mix 107.3.
