Smart Mom Review and Giveaway

When I became a mom two years ago with the birth of my first child, I realized quickly- much to my disappointment- that jewelry had become risky business.  If my daughter wasn’t pulling on my jewelry and breaking it, she was putting it in her mouth, making my jewelry a choking hazard.  I love wearing necklaces in particular, but now with two babies born in two years, I rarely wear one.  It just hasn’t been worth the constant struggle to keep them out of little mouths and hands.

That’s why I was pretty jazzed to receive a Smart Mom Teething Bling necklace recently.  I received the jade pendant necklace:

What I like about this necklace is that it’s stylish jewelry that’s safe for my baby.  The Smart Mom line is non-toxic, and lead and phthalate free.  It’s made of the same dish-washer safe and federally approved silicone many teething toys are made of.  It’s made for babies to chew.  How great is that?!  The clasp is also a safe break-away style, meaning if it’s pulled too hard, it will just come off instead of breaking.  I love that feature because I’ve had far too many necklace clasps broken by iron-man tugs from my kids.  And the necklace looks great!  Smart Mom also makes bangles and keychains from the same material, for those babies who have a thing for keys or bracelets.

In my opinion, the Smart Mom prices are reasonable, especially for such a fuctional piece of jewelry.  Nealy all of the necklaces retail for about $19, a price very comparable to what you would pay for other necklaces.  For the month of September though, the amethyst pendant necklaces, bangles, and gift sets are 50% off, making the necklace $9.50.
