I recently had the opportunity to try the new Wanchai Ferry frozen entrees, as well as receive a “Stay at Home” kit, from MyBlogSpark. (More on the kit in a minute!) I love to have a convenient dinner or two around the house for days when I’m short on cooking time or just too worn out. For this reason, the Wanchai Ferry frozen entree had caught my eye in the stores earlier this summer, so I was excited for the opportunity to try them.
The dinner kits come in five flavors- Orange Chicken, Shrimp Lo Mein, Spicy Garlic Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken and Sweet & Spicy Shrimp. My family and I tried both the Orange Chicken and Sweet & Sour varieties. Both were delicious! My personal favorite: Sweet and Sour Chicken.
When I opened the first dinner kit- Sweet & Sour Chicken- I was pleasantly surprised to see all the ingredients weren’t frozen together in a giant lump, like most frozen dinner entrees are. To me, the typical lump just screams low quality for some reason. This meal kit had each ingredient packaged separately- rice in one bag, sauce in a pouch, pineapple in another bag, and so on.
The dinner took me less than 15 minutes to cook, as the package promised, perfect for a night that calls for something quick yet delicious. And the whole cooking process only required a large skillet, spatula, and a side plate. Clean up was a cinch, just adding to the whole much-appreciated convenience factor.
My family really enjoyed the Wanchai Ferry meals. They tasted higher quality than most of the frozen entrees we’ve tried in the past. With each of the two meals we tried, I added a side of fresh fruit. Wanchai Ferry also has a great resource here with side suggestions and wine pairings.
During a sale paired with a coupon, the Wanchai Ferry frozen entrees can make a reasonably priced, yummy dinner on a night needing a little convenience. You can find a $1.50/1 coupon here.
Now for the “Stay at Home” kit I mentioned earlier- Along with a frozen entree, Wanchai Ferry also sent a kit to help me have an Asian-inspired meal at home. The kit included a coupon for a free Wanchai Ferry frozen entree as well as some great rice bowls, chopsticks and bamboo placemats.
Now I have the opportunity to give one of these prize packs to a Frugal in Virginia reader. The prize pack includes a coupon for a free Wanchai Ferry frozen entree.
