Febreze Home Collection: Review and Gift Card Giveaway

by Mrs. Moneysaver on October 7, 2009

Confession:  I’m an air freshener nut.  Maybe it has something to do with the fact that my baby smells like instant garlic mashed potatoes and therefore I’m somewhat incredibly paranoid our house does too.  (If you’re missing the background info on that tidbit, you need to check out the story here so you don’t think just I hate baby smell.)  I have no less than four different air fresheners in my house at any given moment, not counting nice smelling candles.  Yes, like I said, I’m an air freshener nut.  My secret is out.

So I was excited, to say the least, when I got a pretty little package from MyBlogSpark and Febreze recently.  The box contained one of each air freshener from the new Febreze Home Collection plus some refills.  Ahhhh…. air freshener bliss.   I got a flameless luminary, reed diffuser, soy blend candle, and room spray all in Green Tea Citrus scent.  The company also sent along some luminary refills.

Febreze Home Collection Green TeaI did what any lover of air fresheners does when receiving such a package.  I went around the house putting up my new scents.  Candle in the kitchen.  Luminary in the family room.  You catch the drift.  Or should I say smell?  (Okay, forgive me now for making such a corny joke.)

When I first put the air fresheners out, I was pleasantly surprised by the soft but noticeable smell they gave.  Nothing too overbearing like some other fresheners I’ve tried.  Even the room spray had a non-chemically scent to it.  I usually don’t use room sprays because of this reason, but the Febreze Home Collection spray was different.  More natural and gentle.

My favorite piece of the collection is the flameless luminary.  I have it on my mantle right now with the cranberry pear scented shade.  (My favorite scent of the collection, in case you care!)  The luminary has a stylish black wood base that’s reusable, and then you just have to replace the scented shades weekly.  It gives off a nice flickering light and actually looks like there’s a candle inside.  In the past couple of weeks, I’ve actually gotten compliments from visitors on the appearance of this scented luminary.  When’s the last time someone told you your air freshener looked good?  Yeah.  Never, right?  Usually I try to hide mine too.  Not this pretty luminary though!

In addition to sending me this nice package of air fresheners, Frebreze has also given me a special little something to give to a Frugal in Virginia reader- a $20 gift card to Walmart so you can purchase and try the Febreze Home Collection too.  Woot woot!

Great reviews of the Febreze products! I’ve been wondering how well those luminaries work since they look great on TV. Glad to hear they work as well as they look! I left a note on your FB fanpage about it too.

The Febreze flameless luminary would look great in our living room on the mantle or coffee table! I would use this product in my house because it is safe and still provides a great smell. Candles worry me because of the fire hazard and wall plug-ins can be unsightly. It’s nice that there is a stylish option to purchase now!

With a baby in the house, I’m always looking for candles without the “fire hazard.” :) I would use the flameless luminary to make our living room smell sweet.

I would use the Febreeze home collection all over my tiny apartment. I especially love the flameless luminary – it’s really beautiful, and I think would add a little something extra to the guest bathroom. I have a dog who tends to stink the place up, and a husband with a very sensitive nose who doesn’t usually like air fresheners…so this may just be the ticket!

I’m so excited about this giveaway! I’ve been wanting a flameless luminary since they first came out! I would use it in our living room – it gets the most traffic and it’s where we spend most of our time. Hoping it will help with the subtle dog odor too!

23 Rachel W. October 7, 2009 at 10:25 am

Would love to win the giveaway. The flameless luminary would go perfect in our home, esp. w/ 3 kids and a dog that are constantly knocking things over. Finally some ambience without the hazard of a lit candle.

Thanks…Mary

27 Laura D October 7, 2009 at 10:38 am

For some reason whenever I cook in our small apartment the smell stays forever. So therefore, there is a horrible mix of smells right now. It’s not that bad when you are in the apartment. I guess you just get used to it, but I hate being bombarded with the “smell” when I come home. I also feel bad when we have people come over. I’ve tried lots of different ways to decrease the smell. Maybe this will be the answer!

Anything from Febreze would liven up our kitchen.

49 Kim October 7, 2009 at 1:16 pm

The Febreze luminary would look great in my bedroom on the dresser. I am always looking for ways to make the house smell fresh – it is hard with three indoor cats. I’m excited because the product looks so pretty – not like other scent devices.

I can totally see the illuminary on the shelf I have in the bathroom. We all know air fresheners are needed in the bathroom, and that way it would be a continuous scent, which may fair better than me lighting a candle in their every once and awhile!

95 Melissa G. October 8, 2009 at 8:49 am

I would definitely put the reed diffuser in the bathroom! I love reed diffusers!

The air freshner would probably be kept in my car!

Febreeze Home Collection can spruce up a room by their chic/zen looks. Very nice.

I think this would be a stylish and functional way of sprucing up the laundry room which stores the wet bag for dirty cloth diapers until it’s time for their washing.

150 Shelly October 13, 2009 at 6:25 pm

I would definitely use this to help brighten the smell in the room with my kitty’s litter box!

151 Elena October 13, 2009 at 8:06 pm

I would use the luminary in the bathroom because I love having a candle in there when guests are over, but hate leaving it unattended.

I’d use the gift card to get the flameless luminary since I don’t burn candles anymore with my 14 month old around.

I love the holiday changes that you can do with your candles. Decorating and freshening up in one swoops works for me!

166 Kristin October 14, 2009 at 4:56 pm

I’d probably put a luminary in the bathroom. No matter how often I take it out, the garbage always smells a bit like diapers…that’s life with a baby!

I also love air fresheners as well. We live in an older home and sometimes it can have have that musty smell, so I would use these things in my main living area so that guests are greeted with a pleasant smell when entering our home.

180 Kristie October 15, 2009 at 5:54 pm

I would love to try this new Febreeze line! I would put on in every room and it would be fantastic! I’m an air freshener nut too!

Just have to let you know, how much what you do , blesses so many people. I don’t see how you have the time. I used to do couponings, and you have relit something,I used to really enjoy. My only son passed away, 31, 3 days before KATRINA, and we are raising his only son…Believe me, I am a scented air, lover also. I especially like the difussed scents, requiring no wick burning, and a continual scent in the rooms. Once again , thank you.
