This post is going to stick to the top of the page for next few days. Just scroll down to get to the new stuff!
So the promised blog change has taken place this weekend! What was once known as Frugal in Virginia now has a new name- Mrs. Moneysaver. The name has changed, but the site will remain focused on “Living Frugal Is Living Better”. Really, you won’t see any change in the content, except the usual and ongoing content improvements that you’ve seen from the get-go.
Why the change? I’ve felt for some time that “Frugal in Virginia” seemed a bit too location specific, even though the content and readers are not. I didn’t want anyone missing out on our moneysaving community just because of the name. And anyway, it has a nice ring to it, eh? I hope you like the change as much as I do.
And now for some logistics…
If you’re still getting adjusted to the name change and try to visit www.frugalinvirginia.com, no worries! You’ll be re-directed to the new site. And I am 99.9% positive that those of you who subscribe by email or feed reader will be making the switch seamlessly. (Please let me know if that’s not the case).
If you’ve listed me on your own blogroll, I would be incredibly grateful if you would change my site name to Mrs. Moneysaver, just for consistency’s sake. And thank you a million times for listing me. I appreciate it. In the meantime, your Frugal in Virginia blogroll link will still work.
Also, I have a new button available. If you would like to let your friends know about Mrs. Moneysaver through your personal blog, you can insert the new code to have the Mrs. Moneysaver seal appear on your site. You’ll find the new code on the right sidebar of the site.
So there you have it! Welcome to Mrs. Moneysaver.

Oh my, I’m in shock! I liked the name Frugal In Virginia, but I have to admit that Mrs. Moneysaver has a nice ring too! Plus, it may bring more new readers to your site, if anyone mistakenly thought that you were limited to Virginia deals before.
Love your blog Dana! Keep up the great work!

Thank you for your kind words, Laura. And I’m glad you think the new name as a nice ring! After blogging for 19 months under Frugal in Virginia, I’m in a bit of shock too. But I really think it’s for the best. And yes, a major deciding factor for the switch was the emails I kept getting from people saying things like “At first I didn’t pay any attention to your blog since I’m not in Virginia…” or “I hope I can let you know of so-and-so deal, since I’m not from Virginia”. I think this will clear up those misconceptions!
Hey Dana!
Just wanted to let you know that I have you in my Google Reader and the feed is coming through just fine! (although my Reader still lists you as Frugal In VA…not sure if it will eventually self-update for the name change of if I should unsub & resub to have it show your new name)

Hey Mindi! So happy to hear the feed is working for you. Thanks for letting me know. Yes, I’m wondering about the feed title too. We’ve updated in Feedburner, but the change hasn’t seemed to work yet. Hoping Feedburner is just on a delay for updating major changes.

Wow! Cool! Love it Dana :)
Yay! So glad you guys like it. This whole name change had me incredibly nervous, so it’s a relief to see people are okay with it!
LOVE the change! Congratulations, I know that must have been a lot of work to make sure everything points back to the new site.
I love the new name!! How catchy. I have always loved your site & this change looks great.

Me, too!—-I like the new name a LOT!!
And I also like that it came through seamlessly here, too. :-) Thank you SO much for the scoop on all the great deals–you’ve already saved our family LOTS, and I’m fairly new here!
I love the new name change. I live in Chicago and love your blog. Keep up the good work and I look forward to saving more money.
Thanks,
Antoinette
So excited you all like it!
