I’d heard recent rumors that The Melting Pot is running a hot deal on gift cards- and after confirming it with at least my local Melting Pot owner, it appears that’s the case at some, if not all, Melting Pot locations.
Right now, if you buy a $100 in gift cards for The Melting Pot, you’ll get $100 in bonus gift cards for free. For the bonus, you’ll receive four $25 bonus cards, and you can use one of the bonus cards each quarter throughout 2010. (I’m assuming you can use the bonus card in conjunction with the original $100 gift card.) If you like to eat out at The Melting Pot for special occasions, or perhaps go out for their ladies’ nights, this would be a pretty sweet deal. This offer is not available online, so you have to buy the gift cards at your local restaurant.
The Melting Pot is typically out of our price range, but this gift card deal combined with coupons that we often find in Valpaks mailed to our home could make a (very) nice dinners for a special occassions a bit less expensive!

so you think…buy 2 $50 gc’s, get 4 $25 gcs…and twice we can use a $50, a $25, and a deal from valpack??
I’m hoping so, but you would have to check with the restaurant to be sure. Without a doubt, you could use the original paid gift card with a Valpak coupon, and I definitely don’t see why you couldn’t use the the original gift card and the $25 bonus gift card in one transaction. As far as a Valpak coupon goes stacked with the bonus card, it would depend on how they decide to process the bonus card. If it’s processed just as a gift card, my guess is you could use both in the same transaction. But if the bonus card is processed as a coupon, than probably not. My communication with the owner was a little uncertain.
How great of a deal this is for each person would depend on how frequently you go to The Melting Pot, and how much you spend when you go. I know some ladies who go pretty frequently for Ladies Night, which is about $30 a person or so, I think. So even just using the Bonus Card on those nights, and using the $100 paid gift card for another special occasion would help you save quite a bit over the course of a year.
I would check about the Val Pack, I do not think you can combine the $25 promo gift certificate with any special offers. We did this deal a couple of years ago… and that was the case then.
Thanks, Donna. So probably no stacking the bonus card with coupons then. You didn’t have any problem using coupons with the original gift card, did you? I know other restaurants will let you use a coupon when you pay with a gift card.
