When I shop for clothes, I have three criteria I want my purchases to meet:
1) quality
2) the right price
3) size and style that suites
Is it just me, or is it incredibly hard to find clothes that meet these standards? The price and quality are usually not too terribly tough on me, but the size and style are my real problems.
I have short legs. At just under 5′2″, even short-length and petite clothes are often too long still. Um, and should I even mention my baby belly that’s still hanging around months after pregnancy? *blush*
If I want things to fit well, I usually need to take them to a tailor. (Though a tailor can do little about my tummy issues…) And really, going to the tailor happens rarely. Not because of price, but rather because of the hassle.
So, you can imagine my short-legged delight when I was recently introduced to eShakti. This really is it smart idea for a company…
Based in India, eShakti offers some super cute clothes, including this dress they sent me:
While checking out their site, I found eShakti clothes to be really cute, and the dress was nicely made. The prices, though a tad higher than I’d like to pay, are still priced pretty competitively. But most of all, I was excited about the sizing and styling options they give.
You see, eShakti gives you the choice between standard and custom sizes and styles. If you pick standard, you just tell them your size (XS-3X), along with a couple of basic measurements, including height. They’ll do their best to get the clothes fitting how you want it.
But the customization is where things get interesting. For an extra $15, you can tell them your exact measurements AND many of the clothes offer custom styling options, including changes to the sleeves, neckline, and length.
So let’s say you like this shirt:
If you wanted to tweak it, for an extra $15, you could change the neckline to a scoop, add elbow length sleeves, and make the shirt a bit longer. Pretty neat, eh?
And in my area, $15 (the customization fee) is about what a tailor might charge for a minor alteration anyway, plus you’re saved the trouble of actually going to the tailor.
All in all, I was pleasantly surprised at this company. I really had my doubts when I placed my order, since I had never heard of a company offering customization. I figured the clothes must be pretty shotty as a result. But judging by the dress, I was totally off-base. eShakti offers enough options to meet my three clothes-shopping criteria- quality, cost, and fit/style.
So now eShakti wants to give 3 Mrs. Moneysaver readers each a $20 eShakti gift card so you can do a bit of shopping yourself.

I had fun on this site! I liked the dress they gave you in black! I also like the black flare pants! So cute!
This site is a miraculous find for me! I don’t like to wear anything too revealing, and most of eShakti’s options are conservative even without being modified! I think my favorites are the tiered ruffle skirt in navy (http://www.eshakti.com/clothpdpage.asp?catalog=Clothes&cate=body+con&productid=CL0017448&pcat=#) or the peony embroidered skirt.
