New to Couponing? There’s An App For That.

When you first begin couponing, it can be so tough to know if you’re getting a good deal or not.  The sale ads all boast “low prices”, but more often than not, those prices aren’t that spectacular.

But if you have an iPhone or iPod Touch, then there’s a great new app for you that will help with this dilemma.  Kelly from Faithful Provisions and RANDA Solutions just rolled out the “Provisions” app in the iTunes App Store with a price tag of $1.99.  This app lets you sort by grocery item to find “target prices”.  Let’s say you see apples on sale for $1.25 per pound and aren’t sure if that’s a good deal or not.  You can pull out your iPhone, access the app, and look up apples.  Within seconds you would see that $1.25 isn’t really that close to the target price, decide to pass on the sale and look for other, more reasonably priced produce instead.

If you have an ALDI or Costco nearby, you’ll be happy to know that Kelly included special sections in the app to help you shop at those store specifically.

While the app doesn’t yet include everything you might buy (like some organicI was surprised at how much it does include and Kelly let me know that they’re always working on adding more items to the app.

If you aren’t yet sure of what’s a good price, the Provisions app has the potential to save you lots as you learn to navigate grocery store prices.  In my opinion, the $1.99 app price is well worth it if you have uncertainites about specific target prices.

Unfortunately, it’s the Provisions app is only available to those with an iPhone or iPod Touch. If I find a resource that’s similar on just a website, I’ll let you know.
