12 Days of Valentine’s Day: Veggie Tales’ Silly Little Thing Called Love

by Dana on February 4, 2010

Welcome to Day 7 of the 12 Days of Valentine’s Day, where I’m sharing some fun and affordable Valentine’s Day gifts, plus giving you a chance to win these products yourself! Be sure to check back each day for a new gift idea and giveaway.

Valentine’s Day is nearly here and when the holiday comes to mind, so often do thoughts of love.  As parents, it’s our responsibility to teach our children about love, though it can be so tough to teach it well at times.  To add to the challenge of teaching our kids about love, their ideas about love are molded, in part, by the media surrounding them.  And I’ve found that media can’t always be trusted to teach kids what love is really all about.

In steps Bid Idea, the makers of VeggieTales.  They’ve come out with a new love-themed DVD called Silly Little Thing Called Love, just in time for Valentine’s Day.  Running over 80 minutes and priced around $15, it’s a 3-story movie aimed at teaching kids about love through fun characters and story lines.

My daughter loves this video.  She just cracks up that vegetables are talking, and she tries to sing along with the songs.

While I’m glad that Sadie likes it, I also appreciate the video because of the worldview that Silly Little Thing Called Love (and other VeggieTales videos) shares with kids.  The DVD explores topics surrounding love, including selflessness, love of stuff, and love of God.  It’s teaching good stuff to kids.   Concepts that will need to known- and practiced- by them for the rest of their lives.

Big Idea has sent over a Silly Little Thing Called Love trailer for your viewing pleasure, to give you a better idea of what the DVD is all about.

If you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s Day gift for your children this year, I think Big Idea’s Silly Little Thing Called Love would be a fun choice.  You can pick it from the VeggieTales website ($12.97, plus free shipping), Amazon ($11.49 plus free Prime shipping), or most major retailers where DVDs are sold.

Now, Big Idea wants to give one Mrs. Moneysaver reader a copy of Silly Little Thing Called Love.  You have three ways you can enter, and you can pick as many entries (up to three) as you would like.  Make sure you leave a separate comment for each entry. If you are reading this post from an email, you must click over to the Mrs. Moneysaver site to leave your comments.

1. Visit the Veggies Tales site and let me know one fun thing you found on the site.  A product, event, game… whatever catches your eye!

2. Subscribe to this blog, and leave me a comment letting me know you’ve done so. Click here to subscribe by email or feed reader or see the right sidebar to sign up. You must remain a subscriber for the duration of this giveaway. If you’re already a subscriber, leave a comment letting me know.

3.  Become a fan of Mrs. Moneysaver on Facebook and leave a comment on the Facebook page with a site suggestion or just to say hello!  Then come back here and let me know you did this.

Remember, please leave a separate comment for each entry, and enter only in the ways listed above. I reserve the right to delete comments not adhering to the above entry guidelines.

You can enter anytime now through Sunday, February 14thst at 8PM EDT. One winner will be selected at random. I will contact the winner by email shortly after the giveaway ends, and the winner will have 48 hours to respond. If the winner does not respond within that time frame, a new winner will be selected.

Thanks for entering!
