Junk It 2010: Bedroom Closets

by Mrs. Moneysaver on March 20, 2010

“Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful” -William Morris

I have to admit, I’m glad we’re nearing the end of Junk It 2010. My house is much less cluttered as a result, but it’s been a lot of work some weeks!

Last week we tackled our master bedroom closet for Junk It 2010, and this week we were onto the rest of the bedroom closets in our homes.  Our goal:  To get rid of the clutter that takes up our time (and sanity!).  It requires time to put it away, clean it,  fix it, step over it when it’s left out…  So we’ve been on a mission during Junk It 2010 to do just that- de-junk our homes, 1 project a week for 12 weeks.  The rules are simple:  If you don’t think something makes your home more beautiful or if you haven’t found it useful in the pat six months, it goes.  (Stockpile excluded, of course.)  I don’t care where it goes, so long as it leaves your home.  Sell it, send it to the recycling center or dump, give it away… whatever it takes to de-junk.

How did de-junking your bedroom closets go this week?  Did you find lots of stuff to throw away, or was the clutter pretty minimal?

After the mammoth task of the master bedroom closet last week, I was happy for an easier-for-me project with other bedroom closets.  We have a total of three bedrooms in our home, and each of our kids currently has a bedroom.  I tend to keep their closets fairly organized though, so this week’s work was a breeze.

The only thing I found to get rid of:

Yes, nothing too exciting from me this week, folks.  (I think this week balanced out last week’s junk pile!)

I’d love to hear about your Junk It 2010 progress too!  I hope you are enjoying the freedom that comes with a simplified household.  (Something my husband and I are still learning ourselves!)

Project #10-  one bedroom other than the master (closets excluded, since those were done this week!)

Due date- Thursday, March 25th

It’s not too late to jump in if you missed the first nine assignments!
