I’m convinced that the key to using coupons to save BIG is organization. It doesn’t take long to learn that stashing a handful of coupons in your purse does not work. (I speak from the early days of my own couponing experience!)
Streamlining the couponing process is oh-so-important to me, as being organized helps you save time as you bargain shop. (And as they say, time is money, right?) Without some organization in place, you’ll spend countless minutes rummaging around through your stacks of coupons in store aisles, hoping to find what you need. Plus, without some system of organizing, you’ll always be misplacing those precious coupons.
Since I love seeing new ways to organize, Beth from Proverbs 31 Gal recently sent me a great coupon organizational tool, her new Mabelino Coupon Binder. While I’m full insert sorter myself (completely a personal preference!), I know several friends who swear by the binder method of coupon shopping, so I was excited to see the spin Beth has put on the much-loved binder.
The Mabelino, at its core, is basically a binder filled with baseball card inserts and dividers. The dividers, which you can label yourself, are meant to serve as category divides to your coupons. For example, you might label one divider as “dairy” and another “organic”. Then you slip your coupons into the baseball card slots under the category to which they belong. The 360 clear card pockets (with the option to purchase more) allow you to quickly see all the coupons you have while you’re shopping. This method works great, for example, when you’re perusing the clearance sections of Target, looking for coupons to match the marked down prices. (This is the major drawback to the full insert coupon sorting that I do, and a reason why I might just be putting the Mabelino binder to greater use in the coming weeks.)
In addition to the obvious dividers and inserts, I’m really impressed with all the other tools and resources the Mabelino offers. Within each binder, you’ll find an intro of sorts to coupon shopping, the Target and Walmart coupon policies, shopping lists, weekly meal plan sheets, and more. Beth, being an avid couponer herself, really took the time to include what would be helpful to those looking to save using coupons.
The Mabelino is available in five different colors, and with names like Penny Pinchin’ Purple and Orange You Savin’, it manages to put a fun spin on coupon organization. With a purchase price of $26 ($20.07, plus $5.93 shipping), the Mabelino is a jazzy, practical way to coupon shop.
Mabelino now wants to give one Mrs. Moneysaver reader a Mabelino Coupon Binder. You have three ways you can enter, and you can pick as many entries (up to three) as you would like. What a great idea. I have coupons in a binder and I use pocket sheet protectors. Let me say, not the best idea. The coupons always slide out. It is difficult to find what I need. But this coupon binder looks useful and really pretty. All of the colors are great. I have been subscribing old school email. Always on the hunt for a deal.

I just ordered one in kitchen sink pink, thanks for the post, i always wanted a big binder, as now i just have a small photo album i store in my purse and it is a pain. it is really small, and most of the time i end up using plain paper envelopes for each store, and they always are a pain. I wanted to move up to a big binder but didnt know how to make it perfect to suit me, and this one is perfect! Kitchen sink pink – I took a binder and 3 whole punch the coupon packets. I have a tab with the week labeled which seperates the week. Where I am running into problems is when I print from the internet. I 3 whole punch but just put all the pages in a section together. It saves alot of time cutting. I leave it in the car.
