Harris Teeter 4/28-5/4: Triple Coupons

by Mrs. Moneysaver on April 28, 2010

harris teeter logo

Harris Teeter stores are once again tripling coupons through May 4th.  The final prices below reflect the triple coupon discount, when applicable.  They are tripling coupons up to and including 99 cents face value.  Limit 20 tripled coupons per household per day.

You must use your VIC card to receive the tripled savings.  If you don’t have a VIC card, you can sign up in store and use your card the very same day.  Harris Teeter stores will triple up to three of the same coupons, except in the case of internet printable coupons.  Stores will triple up to two of the same internet printable coupons.  I suggest reading the full coupon policy before you shop.  Remember, product prices, as well as coupon values, vary from region to region.

Kelly at Faithful Provisions has put together a great Harris Teeter Strategies article that may be helpful you as you prepare to shop.

Below, you’ll first find the deals from the ad, followed by a list of printable and insert coupons that will net you a nice bargain with the triple coupons event.

There’s a print function at the bottom of this post that will allow you to print and organize your shopping trip easier!  If you’re reading from an email subscription, you’ll have to click over the site to print.

I am sure this post took you a long time to put together, thanks for all the work you did on it. Happy shopping!

Hey Dana,

Excellent list!

The HT at Hollymead doesn’t seem to carry Ronzoni pasta, I went up and down the aisle and then even asked someone and we still couldn’t find it.

I was there very early this morning and although the store said it would triple coupons starting at 7am, when I went through it was still just doubling mine. They did ask me several times if I’d already shopped today, which I assured them I had not. The cashier was very helpful in trying to sort this out and eventually manually entered them. The VIC centre wasn’t open yet, so she was going to call and see if there was a problem with my card once they opened.

I called the VIC centre a little while ago and the very helpful lady there thought that it would have been a glitch with that particular cash. She said if they were doubling, it meant that the register hadn’t been updated properly. If they had only been singling the coupons, then it might have meant that I’d already used up my quota of 20 coupons for the day.

3 Leslie April 28, 2010 at 12:40 pm

I was in the Hollymead Center HT this AM and they refused to take the Whole Foods competitor coupon ($5 off $25 purchase or more). I have looked up and now printed the HT corporate coupon policy to take with me next time I shop.

4 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver April 28, 2010 at 1:11 pm

I’m sorry to hear you had problems with the Whole Foods coupon, Leslie. I’ve never had an issue with Harris Teeter taking those competitors’ coupons before. Yes, definitely take along the corporate policy the next time you shop.

You could always call corporate and let them know of the situation. Maybe they could credit your account with $5 if you sent in the coupon or something. Could be worth a call!

5 Teressa April 28, 2010 at 1:45 pm

Hi,
This will be my first time shopping at Harris Teeter for the triple coupons. Some of the printable coupons you have listed above when I print them the coupons say do not double or triple. How is that going to work? Will Harris Teeter STILL triple these coupons? Thanks.

6 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver April 28, 2010 at 2:00 pm

Yes, Harris Teeter should still triple these coupons. I’ve heard an occasional story of a cashier getting upset over the “Do Not Double/Triple” language and manually un-tripling the coupons, but that’s never been my experience and those stories have been very few and far between. In fact, I asked one of my local stores about this, and they said that as long as the register automatically triples the coupon, the wording doesn’t really matter.

The only time a “Do Not Double/Triple” coupon won’t automatically triple/double is if the barcode number starts with the number 9.

I hope that helps!

7 camille May 1, 2010 at 4:18 pm

Unfortunately, I had the experience today where the cashier manually “untripled” the coupons that stated to not double/triple. She did at least forewarn me prior to ringing up my items.

8 Teressa April 28, 2010 at 3:04 pm

It helps a lot….Thanks!! I am ready to shop!!!!

9 Brenda Z April 28, 2010 at 4:13 pm

Hi! I also have heard of people not doubling/tripling do not double coupons, but today mine worked great! Got to use that new crescent rolls coupon for some FREE :-)
Also, just so you know at my HT, the sargento cheese was NOT on sale for the low sodium variety and that’s what the coupon was for. bummer! But got lots of other random free or real close to free stuff. It was a really fun trip!

10 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver April 28, 2010 at 11:44 pm

Thanks for letting me know about the cheese, Brenda. My online HT store said it was included, but I hadn’t been able to go to HT myself to verify.

11 Teressa April 28, 2010 at 4:29 pm

Well I have never shopped @ HT….I usually do Food Lion when they have their MVP sales or Farm Fresh when they double up to $1 on Wednesdays. I was searching for some blogs to do some coupon matching for them and I came across HT. I didnt even know we had one near me. Its actually in the next city over but it will only take me about 30 minutes to get there, BUT for free food its worth it. I’m going EVERY DAY till its over LOL. Im in VA when I get off @ 5pm which is in 32 more minutes I’m on the road!!!

12 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver April 28, 2010 at 11:45 pm

I hope you had fun shopping at Harris Teeter today! Their triple coupon events are a lot of fun. :)

13 Teressa April 28, 2010 at 4:30 pm

oh quick question…..How often does HT triple coupons??

14 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver April 30, 2010 at 2:35 pm

Last year, they either tripled (or doubled up to $1.98) every month. Since the beginning of the year though, it’s been a little more sporadic and less often. About once every 6-8 weeks usually.

15 Nicole April 28, 2010 at 5:24 pm

Thanks so much for the info. You had some sales & Qs I hadn’t seen yet. My store also does not have Ronzoni pasta :( But all my Qs triple, even if it says no :)

16 julie April 28, 2010 at 5:55 pm

does any one know if ht carries the chocolate covered pretzels in a bag..flippz or something like that..don’t have the coupon handy…and where are they located in teh store? Thanks!

17 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver April 30, 2010 at 2:37 pm

Hi Julie, My local Express Lane says my store carries them. I think I may have seen them before either in the candy section or by the pretzel, nuts, etc. snacks.
.-= Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver´s last blog ..World Market: $10 Off $30 =-.

Wow, nice job! I’m pretty excited about the Starbucks ice cream myself. :)

After my issues at Hollymead yesterday, I tried going to Barrack’s Road. The cashier would not accept any coupons that say do not double or triple. She said it was the store policy and that their new manager insists on it. Bummer. Anyone else have success with these in C-ville?

While I haven’t been to Barracks Road this triples event, I was there just a few weeks ago and they doubled these kind of coupons for me without a hitch. But I have found some cashiers to be a bit more coupon friendly- and know the store’s policy- better than others. (This is especially true at the BR location, I think.) Since I’ve been couponing at HT for awhile, I usually have a pretty good idea of which cashiers I should use.

Note: I edited this comment to remove the name of the cashier. While I don’t usually moderate comments, I felt like this could potentially get the cashier in trouble with her employer, as well as be hurtful or embarrassing if she or a loved one happened upon this blog. I aim to keep Mrs. Moneysaver a positive, encouraging place, and while I appreciate all comments I receive, I ask that commenters help me in keeping the spirit of Mrs. Moneysaver a positive one. If you have any further questions about why I chose to edit this comment, please contact me.

Do you remember the name of the cashier at BR you had trouble with? I just went there this morning to see what was left of the deals since I live within walking distance. Unfortunately, I didn’t have much choice of which cashier to go to since there was only 1 working the registers. I got a couple of necessities and a few coupon deals. The cashier, (name removed by blog author), called the manager over to adjust the mentos coupon I had so it wouldn’t be doubled/tripled. Just fyi – I’d avoid (name removed by blog author) for future purchases. She’s got her eye on the “Do not double”

I shop at the Barracks Road Harris Teeter. They usually just ask me how many coupons I have to make sure I haven’t gone over the 20 limit and then they just scan them. I had one problem a few weeks ago where the cashier refused to use a manufacturer’s coupon in combination with a HT store coupon (this was not during triples.) Anyway, you may want to experiment with using different cashiers– you’ll find some that actually enjoy watching the savings and are happy to work with you. :)

Thanks, Laura! I’ll keep trying… it’s just that between these two episodes it is taking way more time and stress than I had hoped. Couponing should be fun :) Especially when you’re saving that much money.

Just an FYI the HT at Cameron Village in Raleigh says you can only use 2 internet coupons per item per day. the machine had no problem with 5 of the mission coupons tho since I used them for 2 bags of chips and 3 different types of tortillas.

Funny thing is I’ve never had a problem with using multiples with the overnight staff.

The Cameron Village location is the WORST unless you’re there between midnight and 6AM. The Western Plaza, Tryon Rd. and Cary Town Center locations are always good to me, and the Edwards Mill location is good… if you can get one of the teenage cashiers. Cameron Village is also the most likely to be out of everything you have coupons for.

there are some incredible deals there – thanks for sharing this info! i usually avoid HT, but will be hitting them up for some seriously cheap food!

You’re welcome! Yes, I find HT’s normal prices are a little higher than my other local stores, but they do have some great sales and coupon events!

I’m happy to report that the third time was the charm! I had success today (I avoided the cashier from yesterday) and saved over $40 dollars on my order.

Thanks Dana for this awesome list!

I’m so happy to hear it went better, Jen! :) It’s fun when you get a great cashier, eh?

I laughed out loud when I read this comment in my e-mail!
Obviously, you remembered who I am, and more precisely where I’m from, eh?

I go to the Barracks Road HT and they have been getting more strict about the Do Not Double coupons. The cashiers that would let it slide before have been catching these recently. I do find that the evening shift cashiers are much more coupon-forgiving than the day shift… and of course I now have my favorites who know me by name, and know to expect me during super double / triple events :)

Help! I cannot find the ortega coupons in my All you May (yellow cover) magazine. I live in TN. Any ideas?

34 Dana @ Mrs. Moneysaver May 2, 2010 at 11:32 pm

Shane- Look on page 103 for the coupon. For some reason, I still haven’t received my May issue in the mail (?!), but the All You blog says that the coupon is found on that page.

I know this took a lot of time to put together, I really appreciate your hard work. You are saving my family a boat load of cash! Thanks!

Just realize that a cashier can not just “work with your deals” Also– follow all the coupon rules and realize that the store WILL be out of stock on some coupon products, which is expected so do not be upset
