Just a few weeks ago I was invited to join some other Virginia bloggers for a get-together with some folks from Kroger. I had such a fun time chatting it up with all of them. Can you imagine? A bunch of bloggers who love a good deal getting the chance to talk shop with each other- and with a store that brings them the bargains. I think we could have talked for hours longer.
Besides us bloggers sharing couponing victories and annoyances with Kroger, Kroger also shared with us a bit about their community service, and customer rewards programs. I learned loads!
I walked away from the meeting thinking one major thing about saving money at Kroger though-
Kroger’s fuel program rocks.
Seriously. I had no idea it was this good. I have one Kroger fuel center in my city, but it’s kind of out of my way. And since I didn’t know just how much money it could save me, I had never used the fuel program before even though I shop often at Kroger.
So, if you’re like me and need to learn why the Kroger fuel program is worth it, here’s a little rundown of Kroger’s fuel rewards-
Some Kroger stores have a gas station located near the store. These fuel centers are where you’ll get your discounted gas. You can use the store locator to find your nearest Kroger fuel center.
As a Kroger Plus Card shopper, you can earn points to get discounts on gas from these fuel centers. In fact, you can save up to $1 per gallon. For every 100 points you earn, you’ll save 10 cents off each gallon of gas in a single fill-up. You can redeem up to 1,000 point at one fill-up to get up to a $1 off each gallon of gas. Obviously, this works out best for you if you earn all your points in a month then fill up when you’re on empty.
There are a few ways you can earn points:
- Earn 100 points for every $100 in grocery purchases.
- Earn 100 points for every $50 in gift card purchases from their gift card center. (Some exclusions apply, including Kroger store gift cards)
- Earn 100 points for every 2 prescriptions filled at a Kroger pharmacy.
Your fuel points are all tracked for you and the running total can be found at the bottom of each Kroger store receipt. Check with your local Kroger’s customer service department to learn more about the program.
Now that I understand the fuel program a bit better, I am using it and can see how it will be save me lots over the course of 6 or 12 months, especially if gas prices keep creeping up!
While I was meeting with Kroger, they also gave me a couple of $25 gift cards to pass along to Mrs. Moneysaver readers. Who doesn’t like free groceries, right?

I love how clear Kroger is on their coupon policies allowing folks to get the most for their money. I also love the Kroger gas program and use it frequently!

For those who qualify, as I do, I love their senior discount program- 5% off on Tuesdays! I always shop on Tuesdays and therefore add an additional 5% to my other great savings from double coupons and sales. I also love that Kroger frequently mails me coupon books of high value coupons for the items I buy regularly.
I love their prices. I am always surprised how much lower they are than the other competitors’ around me.

My Kroger doubles coupons up to 50 cents, they send me coupons (including free items) every month, and senior day is the first Wednesday of every month…that gives me 10% off my entire order. Kroger rocks!

I didn’t used to shop at Kroger, but right around the corner at Wal-mart. It seemed they had cheaper prices. I have since learned that I save so much more by shopping at Kroger. First of all, they have great sales….and second and most importantly…I have absolutely no problems at all using my coupons like I have had in the past at Wal-mart. Not to mention Kroger doubles my coupons. So it literally pays to go Krogering!

I love Kroger’s fuel program. My kids and I share the same Kroger’s Plus Card so when I get 100 points, it’s a mad dash to see who gets to the gas pump first. :) Thanks for offering the gift cards.

I love lots about our Kroger-that they have a good organic produce section and great natural/organic dry foods aisles and I love they double coupons up to 50c and have good prices! I wish we had a fuel center near us!!

Kroger is where I shop every week because of the wonderful savings. The more I’ve shopped there, the more coupons I’ve received from them, even coupons for free items every few months. I’ve been using the Fuel Program for over a year now & I agree that IT ROCKS! I’ve never saved a $1/gallon but I’ve come close!! I’m also on my son’s PTA & after asking for a donation(which he gladly gave) he told me that he was glad I was a loyal customer! How bad is it when the manager recognizes you?

I know this sounds funny, but the thing I love most about Kroger is the atmosphere! At some stores it’s all hustle and bustle but at my local Kroger, everyone is laid back and shop as though it’s a leisure (which in these times, who we kidding? it is!).

I LOVE Kroger! I love how they double coupons everyday and they don’t limit the number of coupons they will double like some stores! I use the Fuel Perks too! The staff at my store are always friendly and helpful too, making a pleasant place to shop!

While the Kroger in my new town is a little small, I loved my old Kroger because it had an extensive wine selection, and the store carried my favorite wine after a local Italian restaurant changed its menu and discontinued it.

I love that they have organic fruit on sale that are in the dirty dozen. I love that I can buy apples or strawberries or blueberries untainted by pesticides. I also love their meat counter. Our family can customize our meats for the grillng season and Kroger is the only grocery store with shrimp farmed in the US.

I love shopping at Kroger because it reminds me of home. I grew up in WV where pretty much the only place to shop was Kroger. We did all of our shopping there right up until I moved away to TN for college. I still shop there and am now in OH. Its just homey to me!

I love the produce quality and selection, the friendly people, the cleanliness of the store, doubling of the coupons up to 50 cents, The great fuel program, which also gives you double points for gift cards. Speaking of gift cards, they have the best selection of gift cards that I have ever seen. I like that the prices are always good, and the sales are great! Finally, I like the quality of the Kroger brand items.
