My husband has wanted to clean up our back deck for the past several months, but he received some motivation last week when he got a Fed Ex delivery of Thompson’s Water Seal products.
The first box contained some bottles of a new deck cleaner from Thompson’s, Oxy Foaming Action Cleaner. This biodegradable Oxy cleaner gets dirt and mildew off the typical outdoor culprits- wood and concrete- but also outdoor fabrics. The second box was full of bottles of Thompson’s Advanced Tinted Wood Protector, a product that protects decks from future damage while giving the surface a nice tinted color.
Ryan wants to make our back deck a nice place for family cookouts and evening game nights in the warmer months, so I’m excited to see the end result once we tackle the project later this month with the Thompson’s products. We received the honey tint, which should look fab on our deck!
So if the dad on your Father’s Day shopping list has been wanting to tackle his deck this summer too, treat him to Thompson’s, America’s leading deck care product line. And there’s a bonus- through 2010, Thompson’s is giving $1 to the National Parks Foundation for each product purchased. What a great way to buy for Dads and help our National Parks!
Time for the giveaway!
The prize: One winner will receive a Thompson’s Water Seal Deck Care Kit, containing 4 bottles of Oxy Foaming Cleaner and 4 bottles of Advanced Tinted Wood Protector. (Value: $120)
Open to U.S. residents only.

I actually got to help build the deck on my childhood home. I clearly remember helping nail in the boards. I thought I was the coolest girl ever! The deck ran the length of our house and quickly became the outdoor neighborhood roller skating rink!
I moved from Boston to Atlanta 4 years ago. Last summer, one of my best friends came down to spend a week with me. Every night after we put our kids down for bed, we sat up for hours out on the deck just talking. It was so peaceful and such a great bonding experience for us!
my hushband is also fixin up out door spaces for us to enjoy as a family.
Cooking on the grill and being with family and friends.

The house we’re in now is the first one I’ve ever lived in with a back deck. My husband and I love to unwind after the kids go to bed with a glass of wine as the sun is setting.
We had a nice back deck when I was growing up – we had lots of bday parties on it. I mostly remember the fun we had playing with our kiddie pool on the porch during the hot summers though!

Back deck–great place for a summer-evening picnic. Just sitting back, watching the kids catch fireflies…
I remember watching as our back deck was built when I was a kid. It was neat to see the back patio be poured and then the deck built over it.
My favorite thing to do on our deck is play with my son and his water park.
Our deck definately needs some love!
Watching the stars at night is a very fun thing to do at night on the deck. Along with summer BBQs.
Some fond memories are watching thunderstorms with my Dad and eating watermelon with my sister and spitting the seeds!! Thanks!!

My Uncle and Aunt had a huge deck growing up and we spent so may nights out on that deck as a family…some of my best memories.
When my sister and I were little we used to have a bucket that our grandparents would fill out peanuts. We had certain squirrels that would come to our house every morning and eat the peanuts out of our hands. Thinking about it today, it probably wasn’t very safe with rabies, but we enjoyed it. My husband and I just moved into a house with a gorgeous deck that backs up to a nature preserve. I cannot wait to create some memories on it.
we had a dog that always wore her life jacket and would run around the deck and jump in the pool. she was funny.

My favorite deck memory was building it- in a thunderstorm. I just knew my hubby was going to get electrocuted but he would not stop until it was complete. Then my carpenter uncle showed up from out of town on a whim and he helped make the post caps decorative.

Not really a “sentimental, warm-fuzzy” memory… but I remember when we were little, my sister got mad for some reason, and threw one of our plastic chairs over the deck (2-story house) and it broke. I’ve given her a hard time about that as long as I can remember! Haha. :)

Oh gosh that would be when I was a kid, our deck had stairs that went down halfway, then split in both directions down to the ground. The railing was about 8 feet off the ground. My brother and I used to try to jump off of that railing and see who could jump the farthest. Of course we always got in trouble but we never got hurt!
