Hello, Mrs. Moneysaver fans! I’m Liz, the Hoosier Momma from Hoosier Homemade. I’m a stay-at-home mom of 3 teenage boys, that keep me running with their sports and school activities. I’ve been blogging a little over a year at Hoosier Homemade where I share lots of baked goods, Budget Friendly Meals, and decorating tips and tricks, all to help you “Make Your House a Home.”
I am just thrilled to be here sharing my Heading to the Beach Cupcakes! These cupcakes would be great treat for a trip to the beach, a Summer party, or even a birthday party with a beach theme. They are very easy and quite frugal too.
Here is what you will need…
- Cupcakes…your favorite flavor, of course
- Frosting…I typically use Buttercream
- Royal Blue, Sky Blue and Violet Wilton Coloring
- Fruit Stripe Gum…I found it at Walmart for .88
- Teddy Grahams…a whole box goes a long, LONG way
- Candy Peanuts…white, orange, pink, they are usually called Circus Peanuts and are bright orange. I bought mine at a nearby candy store, Albanese Confectionery Store
- About 10 – 15 Vanilla Wafers crushed…for the sand
Directions:
For Beach Cupcakes… Tint a small portion of frosting with Sky Blue Coloring and another with Royal Blue. To make the frosting look more like water, don’t mix in the coloring thoroughly, leave a little white. Frost cupcakes with Sky Blue Frosting, cover half of the cupcake with “sand”. Dab on the Royal Blue frosting and use the back of your spoon to form the waves. Make a small slit in the cupcake and push a cut piece of Fruit Stripe Gum into it, then place another cut piece of gum in front to form the Beach Chair. Push a Teddy Graham into the cupcake or place one on the chair with a little frosting.
For the Flip-Flop Cupcakes… I used Circus Peanuts, that I found in white and yellow. Cut a slice of the peanut and gently form it into the sandal shape.Tint frosting with Violet Coloring. Pipe on straps with a Wilton #1 round tip, the finest one they make, works great. Then I simply created a little flower with the same tip at the point of the straps.

There you have it…easy, peasy Beach Cupcakes! :-)
