Kids in grades 1st through 6th can participate in Barnes & Noble’s free reading program this summer. Parents can download and print the 2010 Passport to Summer Reading and log each book their child reads. Once eight books have been read, the child can come to Barnes & Noble and get a free paperback book. The program begins May 25th and runs through September 7th.
As a kid, I always participated in Pizza Hut’s Book It! summer reading program, but now as a parent, I like the B&N program better since it rewards with books rather than pizza. (Not that either of my kids can read yet, so what do I know? Maybe pizza is a better motivator?)

Thanks so much for posting about this summer reading program. I heard Border’s was doing a similar program. There’s really a lot of initiative for kids to read nowadays and it’s good to see these big companies getting involved.
